My Inner Cutesie

Ok so I bought this baby book when I was pregnant thinking that I would write down every little milestone and first of Oliver's young life. I am so sad to admit that I have slacked a little bit on this. I've taken an insane amount of pictures of my little dude, but haven't really "scrap booked" or even kept on the baby book. I am morally against scrap booking, fyi. Cutting pictures seems sacrilegious to me. And I'm not really into putting pre-made cutesie stickers next to personal memories.

As I've told Josh, I think I'm missing the girl gene that likes cutesie things like baby showers, lyrics from modern country love ballads, and any sort of party where if you're a girl you're expected to attend while someone tries to sell you something (make-up, candles, kitchenware, etc.) If I do attend one of these parties, it means I really like you. If you're into these kinds of things, great for you! I just don't quite understand lots of cutesie things. I gotta be honest, Anne Geddes creeps the crap out of me. She and Celine Dion collaborated for a project, and I'm surprised the Earth didn't implode due to cuteness overload.

Yuck.

Then again I am the girl who played ninja turtles when many were playing barbies. Ninja turtles got to do way cooler things like protect the world from the evil Shredder. What did Barbie do other than max out her credit cards? Maybe I'd be a lot more stylish had I learn to accessorize with Barbie.

However there are some exceptions to this aversion to cuteness. Pretty much I love all animals and cute pictures of them make me smile.

And being a mother has definitely brought this part out of me a lot more.

  1. I went to a baby shower where after 2 hours we were STILL playing games...like seriously over 6. I had to go and didn't even get to see her open presents. That's one reason why I'm not a fan of baby showers. Except for people I love..but the obligatory one sucks.
and Anne Geddes is weird. I like funny baby pictures...babies doing silly things. that's cute to me.
and baby animals are adorable! that little monkey looks like he could be related to dobby :)

  2. oh and ps...I don't like scrapbooking either. Way too cutesie for me. though I love scrapbook paper..if I could find something worthwhile to do with that stuff that'd be fun.
